Bright and early this morning, 10 women and one man got together in support of the Komen Race for the Cure, held at Waterfront Park.  Together, the official Vine Street Baptist Church team, known as “The Vine’s Branches,” raised just over $350, most of which will stay in the local community for breast cancer research and helping those battling the disease.  The Vine’s Branches were joined by several individual participants, and they were quickly welcomed as part of the extended team.   Most walked the 5k path, which included a trip over the Ohio River via the big Second Street Bridge and back, though some ran during different times.

After everyone completed the Race, the Vine’s Branches took a few minutes to visit booths that were setup in the area.  When everyone returned to the Fellowship Hall, they enjoyed a brunch consisting of two different Breakfast Casseroles, fresh fruit, milk, orange juice, hot coffee and hot chocolate.
