As members and guests gathered for the first Sunday of 2013, they were greeted with with warm faces – both familiar and new.

Today’s service started with deacon Gary Cook reading Psalm 98 and saying an opening prayer. Worship Pastor Chris Wells led the congregation in two songs to get things started:

  • All Hail the Power of Jesus Name
  • How Great is Our God

A time of welcome and fellowship was held for several minutes, which gave everyone the opportunity to greet each other in the name of the Lord. Pastor Ben Dockery brought the time to a close with a few announcements and a pastoral prayer. To prepare the gathered for the upcoming songs and sermon, Pastor Ben read Romans 5:6-11. Next, everyone sang two more songs with Wells leading from the stage.

  • I Stand Amazed in the Presence
  • I Will Sing of My Redeemer

Deacon Donny Aebersold said a prayer, then Wells sang Hear the Call of the Kingdom while the offering was collected. Wells invited everyone to join him in singing on the last stanza, then closed the time of worship with a prayer.

Dr. Phillip Bethancourt brought the second message in the “Great God, Great Mission” series. The full audio can be heard by clicking on a date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.

For a time of response, Wells led the congregation in another verse of Hear the Call of the Kingdom, then Pastor Ben closed the service with a benediction.
