The conclusion of Spring Break returned many of the members and regular guests of Vine Street Baptist Church.

The service opened when Deacon Wally Jeffries read Psalm 33:1-11. Guest music leader, Jacob Bozarth, led the gathered in two songs:

  • Blessed Be Your Name
  • Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Before everyone took some time to greet one another in fellowship, Pastor Ben Dockery introduced Jacob his wife, Whitney. Jacob is a student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Originally from Henderson, KY, they are also active at Sojourn Community Church where they play in the East Campus’ worship band. They have one daughter and live in Louisville.

After the fellowship time, Pastor Ben asked Associate Pastor Todd Burus to give an update about the upcoming  church plant in the Boston, MA. While he was speaking, some images from a recent visit were displayed on the screen.

Pastor Ben closed the announcement period with a pastoral prayer, then he read Hebrews 10:19-25. Everyone then sang some more songs:

  • Nothing But the Blood
  • There is a Fountain

Deacon Joe Gross said a prayer before the offering plates were passed, then the Justin sang Jesus Thank You. He asked the gathered to join him midway through the song.

Preaching Pastor Phillip Bethencourt brought the next  message in the sermon series “Colossians: Him We Proclaim.” The full audio can be heard by clicking on a date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.

A time of response and reflection was given while Jesus Thank You was sung again. Before the benediction, Associate Pastor Chris Moss introduced George Lewis. Lewis is from Freedom Center Ministries in Lynch, KY. He spoke about the Center and how it shares the love of Christ to the community. Vine Street Baptist is planning a week long mission trip to the Freedom Center to help in this work. Moss closed the service with a benediction reading.
