Vine Street Baptist Church members and regular attendees were blessed to have many special guests in the building today.  In addition to family members and friends visiting from out of town and joining together in worship, former pastor Ben Dockery and his family stopped by for a short visit.  Ben is about to become the campus pastor at the church they became members of after leaving Louisville.  They are excited about this new chapter in their lives, and in the ministry God has laid out before Ben.  The Dockery’s wanted to stop by to honor the place where much of the training he received that is allowing him to return to this position in the church.

The service began when Justin Francis read Psalm 16 and said a prayer.  Jacob Hatcher led This I Believe, while Jaime Hatcher and Nolan Hodge played along with him and the congregation sang together.

Jacob welcomed all the visitors and encouraged everyone to greet one another in a time of fellowship.  Justin returned to the front and reminded everyone about the continuing Bible study, The Person of Jesus, which will be taught by Jacob tonight at 6:00pm.  Jacob said a prayer of concerns for the church, then the ushers collected the offering.

Jacob and Jaime continued leading songs and the gathered sang along.

After the sermon, the congregation stood and sang Crown Him With Many Crowns during a time of reflection. Before ending the service, the Lord’s Supper was administered.

Spencer closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. Spencer read a benediction from Romans 15:13 then dismissed the group.
